LEARN THE ART OF STAINED GLASS

Stained glass instruction individually structured to fit your interests, skill level, and schedule.

Open Studio Plus
Individualized and small group instruction with flexible scheduling
offered in a dedicated stained glass studio located inside the Fine Art Society of Middle GA, 147 S Commercial Cir, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
How it Works
  1. Decide what type of stained glass project you'd like to make (mobile, suncatcher, panel, mirror, lightbox, window, etc.).  Not sure where you want to start? Give me a call and we can discuss your interests and/or schedule a meeting and tour of the studio! Typically, if you're new to stained glass, I recommend starting with a 9-piece mobile project I designed to teach the basics of pattern-making, glass-cutting, soldering, and assembly.
  2. Already have a project in mind? Reserve space in the studio! Select and register for Open Studio Plus session times listed on the studio calendar (see below) and reserve one of four workstation with access to all the tools and equipment needed to complete beginning to advanced level stained glass projects. Instruction and project guidance are included with Open Studio Plus and individually structured to fit your interests and skill level.
  3. Project materials such as glass, copper foil, solder, and lead are provided by the individual artist and not included in the Open Studio Plus fee.  You may purchase your own or arrange to pay an initial project materials fee, in which case I will provide the materials you request.
  4. To encourage the best teaching and working environment studio, space is limited to four participants at a time, so advanced registration is required. Registration fee is $15 per 2-hour studio session.
If you need more information or would like to schedule a meeting and tour of the studio, please give me a call at (478) 361-8888, or email me at pjfmad@gmail.com.

Beginning Instruction
Beginners with no prior stained glass experience should expect it will take approximately four sessions  of Open Studio Plus which you can schedule over a period of time, to learn basic stained glass terminology and skills, glass safety, project pattern preparation, scoring and breaking of stained glass, grinding cut glass pieces to fit the pattern and removal of sharp edges, cleaning and wrapping glass pieces in copper foil, soldering the pieces together, and cleaning/polishing and hanging your project. During the course you'll make a 9"x 9" stained glass mobile (pictured) using the copper foil method made popular by Louis Comfort Tiffany. There is a 1-time project material fees of $20 which is due by your second session.
